Gotta Build These Houses Differently

Florida approved Simpson H-series Hurricane ties have uplift strength of 400 to 1350 pounds, and are only as strong as the weakest link in the series of all the connector ties below and dozens of nails not hitting knots or other defects, Under stress, structure twisting or other movement that can loosen nails holding hurricane ties, which rely on wood and have no direct steel connection to the foundation. Current engineering and building codes provide barely any protection against tornados.

EF2

EF2 Tornado

Entire house shifts off foundation, and/or large sections of roof structure removed; most walls remain standing.

EF3

EF3 Tornado

Most walls collapse except small interior rooms.

Tornado-Anchors™ Can Resist Over a Half a Million Pounds of Tornado Uplift Force

Tornado-Anchors™ have uplift strength up to 7000 pounds each, which adds 5 to 15 times greater strength to the best of Florida HVHZ requirements, with a flexible circular steel strap attached directly to the concrete foundation bolts, going up the walls to the roof and over and around the top of each roof truss, then back down to the foundation. Even if debris damages the structure below, a 2300 square foot house with 72 resilient Tornado-Anchors can potentially withstand over a half million pounds or 252 tons of hurricane and tornado uplift force. Nothing can prevent damage from nature, but the greatest strength is the best protection against your home blowing away!
